Abstract


Th e inspiration is from the Pompeian depiction of Iapige I made this study consisting of two parts. Th e fi rst is dedicated to the professional and
social evolution of the doctor, his specializations and medical activity carried out by women. Th e second part concerns the military doctor who,
after the doctor, inherits from these the technical skills and becomes indispensable for the Roman army. Th e study will highlight that the fi gure
of Iapige symbolizes Roman medicine because it is the expression of the doctor and the military doctor.
