Abstract

This article proposes a reinterpretation of the goddess Victoria represented on the Trajan’s Column. Fulcrum of the whole narrative
of the Column and connected with the figurative apparatus of the Forum of Trajan this figure appears as a victory over a superb enemy,
not simply Nike but also Nemesis, Nemesis Victrix, whose function is to restore injured or betrayed justice through a bellum iustum.
