I LUOGHI DELL’AMMINISTRAZIONE DELLA GIUSTIZIA NEL FORO DI TRAIANO1

Abstract

Gli scavi degli ultimi decenni permettono ormai di ricostruire con notevole approssimazione la topografia del Foro di Traiano.
L’analisi delle fonti storiche e letterarie antiche ci offre inoltre la possibilità di comprendere quali strutture deputate all’amministrazione
della giustizia svolgessero le loro attività all’interno del Foro. Utilizzando questi dati si può ipotizzare una dislocazione dei tribunali
all’interno dei grandi emicicli della Basilica Ulpia e dei portici della piazza. Questi ultimi dovevano essere utilizzati anche per l’esposizione
di leggi e decreti.
The excavations of recent decades now allow us to reconstruct the topography of the Forum of Trajan with considerable approximation.
The analysis of ancient historical and literary sources also gives us the opportunity to understand which structures responsible
for administering justice carried out their activities within the Forum. Using these data, it is possible to hypothesize a displacement
of the courts within the great hemicycles of the Basilica Ulpia and the arcades of the square. The latter had to be used also for the
display of laws and decrees.
