ENTERRAMIENTOS INFANTILES EN LAS NECRÓPOLIS FENICIAS DE ANDALUCÍA (ESPAÑA)

Abstract
In the following pages we carry out the study of the documented child burials in the Phoenician colonies located
in Andalusia (Spain) which can be dated from the end of the 9th century BC to the 1st century AD. Although their
number turns out to be low, the funerary practices granted to them do not differ from those found in the adult
graves, also showing the existence of social differences between them. The scarce paleo-anthropological analyses
made to these remains show that they were deposited more than three years after the end of the lactation period,
except in some cases where they could have died at birth or in connection with it.

Resumen
En las páginas que siguen llevamos a cabo un estudio de los enterramientos infantiles documentados en las colonias
fenicias situadas en Andalucía (España), los cuales ofrecen una cronología que comprende desde finales
del siglo IX a.C. hasta el cambio de era. Aunque su número resulta ser escaso, el tratamiento funerario que se les
otorga no difiere del que encontramos en las sepulturas destinadas a los adultos, siendo perceptible la existencia
de diferencias sociales entre ellos. Los escasos análisis paleoantropológicos llevados a cabo sobre estos restos
evidencian que se depositaron con más de tres años, cuando termina el período de lactancia, salvo algunos casos
en los que pudieron morir en el momento del parto o en relación con este hecho.
